The Slow Death of Spontaneous Generation (1668-1859)

The Slow Death of Spontaneous Generation (1668-1859)

What an interesting concept. The idea that life forms just spontaneously generate out of non living matter. Of course this all changed with the invention of the microscope when people could see what was actually going on, but still what would people alive in the 1600's have thought. It seems much more logical that things would spontaneously generate than that there would be millions of microscopic creatures living on pretty much every single thing all over the world.
