Wii have fixed the problem
After all the reports of Wii controllers gone awry, Nintendo have decided to replace the Wii straps. Go on, say it out loud, it'll make you sound scottish. Arrg, the wiii straaaps. I canna give her anymore power cap'n. So if you buy a new wii you'll be flushed with pride at the extra thickness of your strap and it'll prevent you from horribly maiming thousands of innocent bystanders. So someone buy me a wii for christmas because I wanna see what kind of damage I can do.

Yeah, see, you sit back and laugh now, asking yourself how stupid all these crazy americans must be when they can't even hang on to their wiimotes properly, and telling yourself that there's no way you could ever be that uncoordinated...
...but you just wait. Once you actually get to try one out yourself, it won't take long until something happens that'll make you really worried that you might actually be exactly that unco. It might not even be actually letting go of the wiimote at all. You might just accidentally bash your knuckles on the table when you'd thought you'd left yourself plenty of room for a decent swing while playing baseball. Or you might be bowling, and while trying to get those two last pins to complete the spare, you end up taking out a couple of glasses on the coffee table in front of you as well. But once that's happened, you start to notice things, like that the little controller does actually have enough weight to it that it could be dangerous at high velocties, and how that shiny white plastic really does getting kinda slippery once your hands start getting a bit sweaty... and all of a sudden, you'll find that you're not laughing quite so hard at all those poor bastards you saw on the internet anymore...
I dunno, I reckon I'd still be laughing. I mean how could I not laugh, even at myself. Sure the controller might be heavy enough to hurt a whole bunch of people. Maybe its a conspiracy and all, maybe Nintendo went out and decided to make the controller heavy with a dodgy strap so they could hurt a few people and get some publicity. I see it all now.
